Mirror Mirror, a new take on Snow White
So this is not your momma's version of Snow White. Oh, we still have SW, played by Lily Collins (Blind Side, Priest), who is sort of imprisoned; we have a handsome prince, Arnie Hammer (Social Network, J. Edgar); an evil queen, Julia Roberts (Erin Brockovich, Notting Hill); the Queen's helper, Nathan Lane (The Producers, Mouse Hunt); and a full set of dwarfs. SW dad is the king (Sean Bean) who has been killed in the dark forest, so Julia Roberts has taken over the kingdom. She has run though all the money, raised taxes a ton on the poor townspeople. She is not well liked, to say the least. More
War Horse, one of the best animal movies out today.
Just saw a good movie (so by now, you may ask, do you ever see a bad movie? I am glad you asked, have a group of movie reviews coming up next month, most were not worth seeing), by a noted producer, Steven Spielberg. One of the best animal movies out there, OK, so that is a small group. Thinking of Secretariat, it's in that league. I’m referring to War Horse, starring Jeremy Irvine (Life Bites, Now is Good), Peter Mullan (Trainspotting, Tyrannosaur), and Emily Watson (Red Dragon, Angela’s Ashes). He has intensity, depth, and works hard to get you engaged in the show. All good stuff. More
Act of Valor: thank you to our military!
Just saw an outstanding movie, Act Of Valor, starring real Navy SEALS. Trying to list them all and the characters they played will just not work. You have never heard of them, they are active duty SEALS. They were serving as consultants on the movie, and complained about how inaccurate the movie was going, so the producer and director put them in the movie. It was a wise move. More
